For centuries, Clay has served out his sentence as enforcer for the Gods.
For centuries, Clay has served out his sentence as enforcer for the Gods. Within sight of earning his ‘Exit’, Clay is given one final job: protect a deaf-mute young woman. By the time he realises there’s more to this mission than meets the eye, it’s too late to remember: when you work for immortals there’s hell to pay.
The idea that Gods run the criminal underworld is not a new one, certainly not for Carlos Boellinger (director) and Ivo Alexander (producer) who both grew up on comics. “Clay could walk straight out of the pages of 2000AD” points out Ivo, “he is tough, resolute, implacable and unknowable; defined only by the world around him.” The world Clay inhabits is vividly lensed by Carlos, who credits Hellboy artist Mike Mignola as part inspiration for his frame and lighting.

CLAY'S REDEMPTION came about after two years of searching for funding for a different project, when Carlos and Ivo (or ‘Tin Cowboys’ as they call themselves) realised all the actors, locations and technology needed to shoot a feature were already at their disposal. So they borrowed an old idea from the Coen brothers, and shot a trailer for “Clay”, which they then used to raise funds.
Tin Cowboys runs on Girl Power.
This is where the Cowboys hit a rich vein of London-based acting talent who helped them flesh out the characters and bring them to life.
Among them:
Charlie Blackwood plays “Athena”, aka “The Boss”.
Charlie plays “Athena”, aka “The Boss”. Mentor and taskmaster to the hero, she holds the key to his servitude, and possible freedom. Charlie was last seen as the lead in indie hit “Matriarch,” released in UK by Lionsgate.
Elsa Nori plays “Oona”, enforcer for the villain, who is in equal measure lethal and unpredictable.
Elsa plays “Oona”, enforcer for the villain, who is in equal measure lethal and unpredictable. Elsa, a French actor based in London and Biarritz makes the character her own by injecting Oona with the kind of arresting spontaneity which lead to Carlos using most of her first takes. An art school graduate, when not acting Elsa is also a digital artist and designer.
Nuuxs makes her acting debut as “Maya”.
Nuuxs is a London based pop singer and songwriter, who met the Cowboys when they filmed her video “No Good for Me” for director Jason McNab and producer Jake Gosling. Nuuxs makes her acting debut as “Maya”. As someone who uses her voice for a living, she found it ironic to play a mute character. Although it’s Clay’s task to protect her, she’s far from helpless and decidedly Not the girlfriend-in-distress type.
Magdalena Sverlander plays the demonic "Learza".
Swedish addition to the team Magdalena Sverlander turns up the intensity as the demonic “Learza”. Recently the lead in Scandi drama “The Crown Witness” (“Kroongetuige”), Magdalena is currently on our screens in the Jason Bourne spin off TV series “Treadstone” released worldwide on Amazon Prime, after its US premiere on USA Network.
Tin Cowboys also benefit from frequent collaborators: Rona Walter, intrepid Co-Producer and creative force behind most of the characters’ looks; Daisy Coole, who is one half of the film music duo “Two Twenty Two” and brings a unique skillset which includes live instrument recording, composing and conducting.
The cast also features Joe Wredden, Daniel Stisen; as well as Japanese-American Akie Kotabe as Clay.
