Director Tim Thorne comments on KILLING LIONEL...
"I wrote Killing Lionel in 2014 and showed it to local writer/actor Martin Ross. He very much believed it could be a great project so we set the wheels in motion in getting it off the ground.
I teamed up with Martin and Phil Baker (who plays Eddie in the film) and we co-produced together. Being based in North Devon, we very much wanted to keep the cast and crew as local as possible which we did.
We done fund-raising for around 18 months and in that time we shot a teaser trailer to help. The trailer itself featured George Mikell from 'The Guns of Naverone' and 'The Great Escape. We raised some limited funds in that time, the rest of the budget I put in myself, which basically was everything I had saved.
Production took place in September and October 2015, and having teamed up with Tom Turner of 'Paramore Productions' as the DoP, we brang this project to life together. Tom done a wonderful job as the Director of Photography, really helping me to achieve my vision, as well as co-directing many of the intricate sequences as well.
The edit, also by Tom Turner, took all of 2016 and beyond. We didn't have much success with our distribution attempts in the UK, so I started putting the teaser about on various film forums. It was in 2018 around a year ago, that a producer called Cleo Fluker from Las Vegas U.S contacted me on Facebook having seen the trailer. He asked for a screener and then having watched it, all but guaranteed me a distribution deal. He took it to the AMF (American Film Market) in November 2018 and sure enough a deal was forthcoming.
A special mention also goes to Jon Hutchings of The White Hart Hotel in Holsworthy. Jon kindly let us use his pub as a base during the shoot, as well as much of pre-production and fund-raising events."
