Tobi Bakare plays the heroic Sidney Cornell, who was killed in action on the 7th April 1945.
PARATROOPER is the true story of Sidney Cornell, an amateur boxer from Portsmouth who was the first black British Paratrooper to land in France on D-Day.
Describe as being "hard as nails", Sidney Cornell served in the 7th Parachute Battalion as a runner in B Company and landed behind enemy lines 5th/6th June 1945. For the next 5 weeks he was in continuous action, and was later promoted to Sergeant and awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal.
PARATROOPER revolves around the friendship Cornell (Tobi Bakare) had with two of his fellow soldiers, Private Michael McGee (Alex Reece) and Private Ron Perry (Alex Tabrizi), whilst the production has the blessing and full support of the Perry and Cornell family relatives.
