Set in a vibrant, neon-lit, imaginary vision of Soho, POSTCARDS FROM LONDON is director Steve McLean’s homage to a lost Soho and distant follow on to his directorial debut Postcards from America. Filmed entirely in studio and highly stylized, McLean’s unique approach brings a timeless and theatre-like quality to the screen, encouraging audiences to draw on their own memories of a bygone Soho. Also boasting a cast of rising young British stars, POSTCARDS FROM LONDON is a light-hearted and fun morality tale and a celebration of the homo-erotic in Renaissance and Baroque art.
Beautiful Essex boy Jim (Harris Dickinson: The Darkest Minds, Beach Rats), travels to vibrant Soho in search of fame, fortune and cultural stimulation. Down on his luck, he meets with a gang of unusual high class male escorts - The Raconteurs – who specialise in post-coital conversation. What follows is Jim’s comic descent from unsuccessful escort, to artist’s muse and art authenticator – a journey complicated by a rare psychosomatic condition called ‘Stendhal Syndrome’. Rendering Jim painfully oversensitive to art, the condition threatens to bring about his downfall whilst opening him up to new opportunities, that is if Jim is willing to grab them…
