THE INTENT 2: THE COME UP is directed by Femi Oyeniran & Nicky Slimting Walker
THE INTENT 2: THE COME UP directed by Femi Oyeniran & Nicky Slimting Walker is a prequel to Femi Oyeniran & Kalvadour Peterson underground hit THE INTENT. But whereas the first film was raw and rough around the edges, THE INTENT 2: THE COME UP is slick & glossy, with a production value to match anything Hollywood has to offer.
Beverley superbly played by Sharon Duncan-Brewster is the head of a gang that controls London. She’s ruthlessly ruled her boys Jay (Justin Clarke Samuels, aka rapper GHETTS), G-Money (Ashley Chin), Shane (Nicky Slimting Walker) and Mitch (Femi Oyeniran) from when they were kids and runs her criminal outfit from the back of her hairdressing salon, all under the watchful gaze of a hidden police camera and undercover cop Gunz (Dylan Duffus).
When the crew violently rob a warehouse full of drugs belonging to the Turks they soon find themselves on remand behind bars. This is where Gunz goes undercover and makes initial contact with the crew. Prison is short lived as they soon get released on lack of evidence.
When they were away the Turks moved in on their territory, so on release the crew rob the head of the Turks of all his food (drugs) leaving him for dead. Enraged his nephew Mustafa (Adam Deacon) approaches Jay to work with him and to kill Beverley, so they can take over London, but word gets to Beverley that Jay has been meeting with the Turks and so she sends the crew to Jamaica to take care of her “rat infestation”. Jay sees himself as a dead man walking but has no option but to go.
It’s in Jamaica where they meet the don, Sour Sap (Andre 'Popcaan' Sutherland) and undercover cop Gunz meets the wonderfully colourful head of police Kingsley (Louie 'OX' Rankin).
THE INTENT 2: THE COME UP is relentlessly entertaining, packed with violence, a fantastic soundtrack, wonderfully colourful characters, brilliant acting and is visually stunning. Just when you think its hit top gear it goes up a notch. If you love urban, gangster or crime films this is a must-see, it’s like nothing you’ve seen before from a British film.
Go see it on the big screen, you will not be disappointed, it’s brilliant and on this showing THE INTENT 3 is just a matter of time. It's pure entertainment and something for British film to be proud of!
THE INTENT 2: THE COME UP is released on Digital & DVD 21 January 2019
