Synopsis: COLD-BLOODED KILLERS is about two hitmen who go to the Isle of Arran to do a routine hit.
Devlin (David Wilde) and Conner (Stephen Brady) have been contracted by a crime firm to find and kill one of their crime bosses "Fraser McCabe". McCabe fled with a lot of money to start a new legit life.
The crime firm get a tip off McCabe is on the Island, but they don't know where he is. They have sent hit teams in the past to find and kill him, but none of them come back alive.
Devlin and Connor have three days to pull off this job, before McCabe finds out from locals that a new team is here to kill him.
Devlin begins to understand why McCabe started a new life on the island. This throws a spanner in the works, after Devlin also gets seduced by the island life.
David Wilde comments “The idea for Cold-Blooded Killers came to me when I visited the Isle of Arran for a day. An island on the west coast of Scotland. I originally thought of shooting something else there. I was shooting a crime series, so I thought about setting an episode on the island. Until another film idea wouldn’t leave my head.
I never came back to the idea until about a year later. I then decided within about a day that I wanted to make it. I had another actor I had been working well with for a few years, who was also my co-star in my crime series (Crime Lord) So I had a feeling this would work with well with us.
I always try to take that Robert Rodriguez approach. When you’re working with very little money, don’t try and make a film that needs money to work. Work with what you have, a simple character driven story about two hitmen that go to an island to do a job.
Setting the film on the Isle of Arran would also mean I could bring a cinematic feel to the film. I had just bought a drone, so this would be perfect to use for this film. You can’t shoot on a beautiful island like Arran and not highlight the landscape too, especially when it also influences the characters.
We shot in December, which meant the weather could be bad and unpredictable, but I wanted that real feel for the film. The plan was to be lean and mean. Shoot very fast, and just roll with any problems that came our way on the shoot. Which is the way I like to make films, I don’t wait for all my ducks in a row or the right conditions."
