Veteran British actor and producer Terry Bird takes on the iconic role of Sweeney Todd in the upcoming horror film 'SWEENEY TODD: SLICE & DICE', which gets its UK debut on digital and DVD from 2 June 2025, courtesy of Kaleidoscope Film Distribution.
Terry Bird, known for his work across theatre, film and TV – including roles in IN FABRIC, IRON IVAN, COMMUNITY, and JEEPERS CREEPERS: REBORN – is also the founder of New Town Films and a long-time facilitator of community drama workshops. His new project, 'SWEENEY TODD: SLICE & DICE', sees him stepping into the lead role as the infamous barber in a chilling new take on the classic tale.
A Bloody New Vision From Director Steven M. Smith
The film is directed by Steven M. Smith (THE GHOSTS OF BORLEY RECTORY, ESSEX BOYS: LAW OF SURVIVAL) and produced by Bird himself. Although set in 1846 Victorian London, 'SWEENEY TODD: SLICE & DICE' explores contemporary themes such as the cost of living, family, and societal injustice.
Alongside Bird, the film stars rising talent Alexander Simkin (GLADIATOR II) as Sergeant Babwitch and Steven Brandon, the British Independent Film Award-winning actor from MY FERAL HEART, in the role of Tobias.
A Personal Dedication
The film is dedicated to the late Darren Kent (GAME OF THRONES, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, EASTENDERS), a close friend of Terry Bird. “Darren inspired me to produce this film,” said Bird. “The UK film industry had been very quiet, and many of my friends were struggling to find work. We were keen to collaborate and create something meaningful.”
