Falmouth University, in partnership with UK action film studio Action Xtreme, has unveiled the world’s first MA in Action Feature Filmmaking. This groundbreaking degree, launching in September 2025, offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience by producing a feature film for global distribution.
A First-of-Its-Kind Filmmaking Course
The MA Feature Filmmaking course is a pioneering programme designed to bridge the gap between academia and the film industry. Developed by Action Xtreme—an emerging powerhouse in action cinema—this innovative degree will see students take a feature film from development through to production and distribution.
The UK action film industry is thriving, and this programme ensures that the next generation of filmmakers has both the creative and technical skills required to make an impact. Over 45 weeks, students will experience the full production process, working alongside leading professionals in the field
Hands-On Learning with Real Industry Impact
Unlike traditional film courses, this MA places practical experience at its core. Students will graduate with a feature film credit to their name, providing an invaluable launchpad into the industry. The course is built around three key pillars:
Training: Learning from experts at Falmouth University’s renowned School of Film & Television.
Creation: Developing and producing a feature-length action film as part of the course.
Distribution: Ensuring real-world impact through Action Xtreme’s distribution networks.
The Team Behind the Programme
The MA in Feature Filmmaking has been developed by leading figures in the industry, including:
Chee Keong Cheung, CEO of Action Xtreme, award-winning British-Chinese filmmaker, and producer.
Noel Goodwin, Talent Development Director at Action Xtreme and former director of the BFI Future Film Festival.
Dr. Kingsley Marshall, Head of the School of Film & Television at Falmouth University.
The programme will be based at Falmouth’s Penryn Campus, home to industry-leading film production facilities and the Sound/Image Cinema Lab, which has played a role in numerous acclaimed feature films.

'SON OF THE SOIL', starring Razaaq Adoti.
