Jules East, a Chinese filmmaker now based in the San Francisco Bay Area, is making her mark in the independent film scene with two features that highlight her multifaceted talents in writing, directing, and composing film scores.
Her debut feature, 'RIVER OF GHOSTS,' is a fantasy thriller now available to stream in the US on Amazon Prime Video, as well as 13 other pay-per-view platforms. The film will soon be accessible on ad-based platforms like Tubi. Starring Conner Floyd, Scot Cooper, and Alena Savostikova, the story follows a Stanford psychiatry dropout who returns to his small river-town hometown to practice hypnotherapy, only to uncover deep-seated secrets within the community.
Looking ahead, Jules East’s second film, 'ALONE IN VENICE,' is set to release on January 7, 2025, and is distributed by Freestyle Digital Media. This arthouse romance, which premiered at the 84th Venice International Film Festival, reimagines Death in Venice with a modern twist. It explores the relationship between a young aspiring actor and his married female director, presenting a poignant and layered narrative. Jules also composed the score for this film, adding another dimension to her creative vision.
