'UNRAVELLING', directed by Aimie Willemse and produced by Serena Gardner, is an upcoming body horror short film that takes a deeply personal look at the experience of living with an invisible illness. Drawing from Willemse’s own battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), the film uses horror to explore the fears and challenges that come with this condition.
Outline: The film follows Fiona, who is caring for her ailing grandmother, Maeve. As Maeve’s invisible illness begins to physically manifest in horrifying ways, Fiona is forced to confront terrifying realities. 'UNRAVELLING' uses body horror to vividly depict the physical and emotional toll of chronic illness, offering a raw and unsettling portrayal of a condition often misunderstood by society.
Director’s Vision: Scottish filmmaker Aimie Willemse, diagnosed with Relapse Remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 2020, brings her personal experiences to the screen in 'UNRAVELLING'. Her goal is to challenge the stereotypical depictions of MS and shed light on the hidden struggles faced by those living with invisible illnesses.
