Following World Premiere at Pigeon Shrine FrightFest
The highly anticipated UK horror-thriller, BROKEN BIRD, has just released a gloriously dark new trailer ahead of its world premiere at this year's Pigeon Shrine FrightFest. The film, set to hit UK cinemas on August 30th, marks the feature directorial debut of Joanne Mitchell, a seasoned horror storyteller known for her work in the genre over the past 15 years. BROKEN BIRD is based on the 2018 award-winning short film 'Sybil', co-created by Mitchell and Tracey Sheals, with a screenplay by Dominic Brunt.
BROKEN BIRD delves into the eerie life of Sybil Chamberlain (Rebecca Calder), a quiet and creative woman who finds solace in her unique hobbies—taxidermy and poetry. Sybil works at a funeral parlor, surrounded by the deceased who, in her mind, understand her better than the living. At just ten years old, Sybil endured a tragic accident that took away her beloved family, leaving her with a deep sense of loneliness that she tries to fill through her imagination and dark desires.
As reality begins to slip away, Sybil's fascination with the dead takes a horrifying turn. The trailer teases a haunting atmosphere and a narrative that blurs the line between the macabre and the poetic. BROKEN BIRD promises to be a gothic tale of obsession, isolation, and the pursuit of twisted happiness.
The film features a stellar cast including Rebecca Calder, James Fleet, Jay Taylor, and Sacharissa Claxton, who bring this dark story to life with chilling performances. BROKEN BIRD is set to open this year's Pigeon Shrine FrightFest, before its nationwide release in cinemas on August 30th.
BROKEN BIRD is produced by Catalyst Studios and showcases Mitchell's unique vision and ability to craft deeply unsettling horror stories.
BROKEN BIRD’s release on August 30th.
