Filming has officially wrapped for the highly anticipated horror sequel, 'THE RED BOOK RITUAL 2: THE GATE OF HELL,' with the production taking place in various locations around Asunción, Paraguay. This sequel follows the success of the original film 'THE RED BOOK RITUAL,' which gained international recognition and distribution across over 100 countries. The completion of this project marks a significant step in an ongoing initiative to establish Paraguay as a hub for horror film production, showcasing the talents of local actors and filmmakers who have been long developing projects in the horror and thriller genres.
The film, which was shot entirely in English and aimed at the global market, features a cast of local talents including Mario Martí, Lizzie Gómez, Tainá Lipinski, Matías Miranda, Lucía Báez, and Bianca Vacchetta. The project is a collaboration between Black Mandala Films, the company behind the original movie, led by New Zealand producer Michael Kraetzer, and Urban Achievers S.A., a Paraguayan production company headed by René Ruiz Díaz. Nicolás Onetti, known for his work on 'What the Waters Left Behind' and 'Abrakadabra,' returns to the director's chair for this sequel, bringing his distinctive style to the project.
The production team includes the crew responsible for notable Paraguayan films such as 'Morgue' and the upcoming 'No Entres,' further strengthening the local film industry. 'THE RED BOOK RITUAL' follows the story of a group of individuals who gather in a mansion, the site of a previous massacre, to perform the ominous 'Red Book' ritual. As they attempt to contact their deceased loved ones through the use of an ancient red book, they inadvertently open a door to the unknown, unleashing terrifying consequences. The sequel promises to take the horror to new heights, with the dead walking among the living and the stakes higher than ever.
'THE RED BOOK RITUAL 2: THE GATE OF HELL' is scheduled for release in the first half of 2025, and it is expected to captivate horror fans worldwide with its chilling storyline and atmospheric tension. This project not only showcases Paraguay's growing film industry but also highlights the potential of local talents on the international stage. As Paraguay continues to build its reputation as a destination for horror cinema, audiences can look forward to more thrilling productions emerging from this burgeoning film hub.
