BFI Distribution unveiled the official UK trailer and poster for SKY PEALS, the debut feature film by writer and director Moin Hussain. Set to open in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 9 August 2024, this unconventional sci-fi drama explores themes of alienation in modern Britain and is uniquely shot on 35mm film.
Starring rising talent Faraz Ayub, known for his roles in SCREW, SUSPICION, and LINE OF DUTY, SKY PEALS promises a compelling performance by the actor who was selected for the BAFTA Elevate initiative in 2019. The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Natalie Gavin (ALI & AVA, THE ARBOR), Claire Rushbrook (ALI & AVA, SECRETS & LIES), Simon Nagra (LOVE WITHOUT WALLS, THREE GIRLS), Steve Oram (SIGHTSEERS, A DARK SONG), and Jeff Mirza (WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?, MOGUL MOWGLI).
Synopsis: In his mid-thirties, Adam works nightshifts at a burger restaurant in a motorway service station, living a small and lonely life of isolation. When his estranged father, who had recently been trying to contact him, suddenly dies, Adam attempts to piece together a picture of a man he never knew. His uncle reveals that his father believed he was 'sent here from somewhere else'. As Adam experiences strange blackout episodes and struggles with communication and connection, he begins to question if his father was indeed from another place, and if so, what that means for him.
Premieres and Release Information: SKY PEALS had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival during Critics’ Week last autumn and its UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival. Following its theatrical release on 9 August 2024, the film will be available on BFI Player and released digitally on 23 September 2024.
