The highly anticipated short film BERTA, directed by acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Lucía Forner Segarra, is set to have its World Premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal. The film is part of the prestigious Born of Woman showcase.
BERTA is the final installment in Forner Segarra’s trilogy of feminist horror shorts, following the successes of MARTA and DANA. The film stars Spanish actors Nerea Barros as Berta, Elías González, and features a cameo by Thais Blume. Executive producer Patricia Chica, through her company Flirt Films, brings this bold narrative to life.
The 17-minute short explores the story of Berta, a woman seeking closure from a man who hurt her in the past, using unorthodox methods to make her point. Known for her unapologetically bold and angsty style, Forner Segarra promises an intense experience filled with blood, chills, and rising tension.
BERTA is written, directed, and produced by Lucía Forner Segarra, with Patricia Chica as executive producer. The film features cinematography by Claudia Rodríguez, editing by Fanny Fernández Morales, and an original score by Joan Vilà. It is distributed by YAQ.
