Susan Dynner’s Supernatural Thriller THE SOUL TRADER
Susan Dynner’s latest supernatural thriller, THE SOUL TRADER, captivated audiences at its screening during the Manhattan Film Festival on June 15. This twelve-minute short film, directed and produced by Dynner, showcases an innovative blend of supernatural elements and suspense, proving to be a compelling proof-of-concept for a potential feature or television series.
THE SOUL TRADER follows the enigmatic Coral Chase, played by newcomer Shauna Grace. Coral is an occult hitwoman with the unique ability to steal life-extending souls from the young and sell them to wealthy elites desperate to cling to youth. As she prepares for her final job before retirement, Coral’s plan is thwarted by her own bodyguard, Damien, portrayed by Shane West, who emerges as a deadly rival with his own murderous intentions.
The film also stars Donna Mills as Erica Claessen, one of the elite clients who benefits from Coral’s dark trade. Mills, known for her iconic roles in "Knots Landing" and "NOPE," brings a rich depth to her character, enhancing the film’s intense atmosphere.
Dynner says, “THE SOUL TRADER introduces a new breed of complex heroine to our screens. On one hand, she’s a devoted single mom trying to make ends meet for her ten-year-old son. On the other, she’s a cold, contract killer with occult powers and now rivals want to learn her secrets. It’s a sexy and provocative short with a killer twist, but I think this is only the beginning. Our short is a proof of concept for something much bigger and we can’t wait to let Coral loose on the world. We were so lucky to pull together an incredibly talented team of actors and crew who brought so much to the shoot and the production.”
THE SOUL TRADER is produced by Aberration Films and is now available for viewing post-screening. For more information and updates, visit www.thesoultrader.com.
