KILL YOUR LOVER: A Tale of Toxic Love Turned Horrific
Dark Sky Films has announced the release of KILL YOUR LOVER, a British horror film that delves into the ultimate toxic relationship. Written and directed by Alix Austin and Keir Siewert, this film will be available in theaters and on Digital/VOD platforms starting June 7th.
KILL YOUR LOVER marks the feature-filmmaking debut of Austin and Siewert, following their success with award-winning short films such as Sucker, Portrait, and Retch. The film stars Paige Gilmour and Shane Quigley Murphy, delivering breakout performances that bring the dark narrative to life. Gilmour portrays Dakota, a woman desperate to escape her toxic relationship with Axel, played by Murphy. However, Axel’s reaction to the breakup leads to a terrifying transformation. His body sprouts grotesque black veins, his touch burns flesh, and their relationship spirals into a nightmare.

The cast also includes May Kelly (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey), Chloe Wigmore (Breaking the Band), and Joshua Whincup. The film features a musical score by Thibault Chavanis and makeup effects by Rebecca Wheeler, known for her work on Boiling Point and The Siege.
Festival Success and Accolades
KILL YOUR LOVER had its world premiere as the Opening Night feature at the 2023 Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. It is also set to play at FilmQuest 2023, where Alix Austin and Shane Quigley Murphy are nominated for Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively, and the movie is up for Best Visual Effects.
Official Synopsis
Dakota and Axel’s relationship is a toxic mess, known to everyone but Axel. When Dakota tries to end it, Axel’s condition worsens dramatically, leading to physical transformations that turn their once passionate relationship into a horror show. As Axel’s grip on reality and Dakota tightens, the story escalates into a fight for survival.
