'CUSTOM' World Premiere at Glasgow FrightFest, March 9, 2024
Paranoid Android Films and Oblique Bleak Films are excited to unveil the World Premiere of 'Custom' at the Glasgow Film Festival on Saturday, March 9th, within the Frightfest program. This debut feature by Tiago Teixeira, featuring Abigail Hardingham and Rowan Polonski, is a captivating horror thriller that delves into the eerie realms of death, sex, reality, and fantasy. The plot centers on Jasper and Harriet, arthouse pornographers facing financial hardships, who are propelled into a bizarre situation by 'The Audience', a secretive client promising substantial rewards for performing odd rituals on film.
Tiago Teixeira has already established himself in the horror domain through his noteworthy shorts such as Acorde, Dog Skin, and Wrong Number, appreciated at festivals globally. Abigail Hardingham brings her versatile acting skills, known for roles in 'The Missing', 'The Innocents', '12 Monkeys', and the popular Netflix series 'You', not to mention her memorable performance in 'Nina Forever'. Rowan Polonski transitions from his recent engagement with the Royal Shakespeare Company and anticipation for his role in John Logan’s 'Double Feature' at the Hampstead Theatre, with past appearances in 'Kingsman', 'Tomb Raider' (2018), and 'Doctor Who'. The ensemble is rounded off by Brad Moore playing Bishop, and Samantha Steel as Bea, promising a compelling mix of talent for this thrilling venture into horror.
The film was produced by Andy Edwards (Graphic Desires, Punch) for Paranoid Android Films. He remarked, “Once I read the script for Custom, I knew it would fit perfectly with the Paranoid Android slate – it’s dark, it’s original, and with Tiago at the helm it was always going to be visually stunning too.”
Abigail Hardingham took on an additional role as an associate producer for the film. She commented, “Custom speaks to two things I can’t live without, art and sex. Certainly, this film is a passion project and made by one of the most devoted cast and crew I’ve been lucky enough to work with… All in the name of art; and through our characters’ creative medium of choice being sex, this film is sure to evoke conversation.”
