Behind the Scenes of Lewis William Robinson's Debut Feature
"ORCHID MOON" is the latest psychological drama to intrigue the indie film circuit, introducing us to Harry Bradshaw's struggle with guilt and loss following the death of his partner, Clementine. The project, directed, written, and produced by Lewis William Robinson, is a deep dive into the aftermath of tragedy and the elusive quest for peace.
The film's journey began at a BFI Future Film Lab session in 2018, evolving over years from a nascent idea to a fully-realized script. The narrative inspiration sprung from Robinson's own experiences and insights gleaned from working in hospitality, creating a backdrop that's both intimate and relatable.
Robinson, an Ashville College and MetFilm School alumnus, has transitioned from shorts like "Forgotten," addressing Alzheimer's disease, and "Addiction," focusing on drug abuse, to his first major feature. He brings to "ORCHID MOON" a wealth of observational acumen on personal struggles, underlined by his signature directorial style.
"ORCHID MOON" features Jake Waring as Harry Bradshaw and Nicole Evans as Clementine, with additional casting including Frazer Hines of "Doctor Who" fame. The film was shot over eight months, segmented into three blocks, leveraging available locations and resources. This dedication to craft and resourceful filmmaking echoes in the collaborative efforts of the cast and crew who have previously worked together on short films.
As Robinson's feature debut, "ORCHID MOON" stands as a creative milestone and an embodiment of independent film's spirit.
