Black Mandala Films and Urban Achievers S.A. Team Up for 'THE RED BOOK RITUAL 2: THE GATE OF HELL'
The New Zealand-Argentina-based Black Mandala Films, led by Michael Kraetzer and Nicolas Onetti, is partnering with Paraguay's Urban Achievers S.A., headed by René Ruíz Díaz, to co-produce the anticipated sequel "THE RED BOOK RITUAL 2: THE GATE OF HELL." Filming is set for the first half of 2024 in Asunción, Paraguay, and aims to kickstart a series of genre film collaborations between the companies.
Open casting and location scouting are slated to begin soon for the sequel, which follows a group performing a deadly ritual. The original film, "The Red Book Ritual," garnered international distribution and was screened in over 100 countries.
Ruiz Diaz emphasizes Paraguay's potential as an emerging hub for genre cinema, citing its talent pool and favorable production climate. Onetti, with over forty film credits, believes the collaboration will elevate Latin American horror cinema to new heights.
The partnership marks a pivotal step in both companies' plans to turn Asunción into a focal point for horror and thriller film production, while also spotlighting regional talent.
