POUNDCAKE will celebrate its International Premiere at Pigeon Shrine FrightFest, 25 August.
Outline: A brutal serial killer is rampantly taking the lives of heterosexual white males in the heart of New York City. Their plight seems to largely go unnoticed. Each night, this formidable monster, brandishing heavy chains, prowls the harsh streets of Manhattan, searching for his next prey to torment in unimaginable ways. As the digital sphere buzzes with discussions - from podcasters to social influencers - about the murders in relation to socio-political debates, #MeToo, Black Lives Matter, and other timely topics, the remorseless killer proceeds with his bloodshed unabated.
Drawing inspiration from 1980s horror legends such as Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers, alongside Spike Lee's SUMMER OF SAM, POUNDCAKE is a unique fusion of classic horror and current socio-political commentary, blending the elements of suspenseful horror with contemporary political discussions.
Directed by Onur Tukel. POUNDCAKE stars Ron Brice, Eva Dorrepaal, Pia Paez, Onur Tukel.
