THE TROUBLE WITH JESSICA: A Dire Financial Crisis, A Tragic Death, and a Risky Scheme Unfold in Matt Winn's Dark Comedy Premiering on 3rd November.
Sarah (portrayed by Shirley Henderson) and Tom (played by Alan Tudyk) are a married duo teetering on the edge of financial catastrophe. Just when they're about to lose it all, they secure a buyer for their chic London residence.
During a farewell dinner at their home, their closest friends, Richard (Rufus Sewell) and Beth (Olivia Williams), pay them a visit. Jessica (Indira Varma), an old friend who wasn't exactly invited, unexpectedly joins them.
The night takes a disturbing turn when Jessica, following a seemingly minor dispute, hangs herself in the garden. Tom is about to notify the police when Sarah has a chilling realization. If the buyer discovers the death, their house sale—and their last chance to stave off financial disaster—will undoubtedly fall through.
Their only option? Persuade Richard and Beth to help transport Jessica’s body to her apartment and stage the scene to appear as if she ended her life there. If they're smart and meticulous, what could possibly backfire?
Director, Co-writer & Composer Matt Winn comments:
"THE TROUBLE WITH JESSICA is the film I’ve always wanted to make - a black comedy satirising the British middle classes, examining their hopes, dreams, duplicities and hypocrises. It’s a state of the nation piece about Britain now, that asks a simple question: who are we and what are our values?
Working with this ensemble cast - comprised of some of the country's best actors - was a director's dream and I'm thrilled that our film will be hitting the big screen this autumn."
THE TROUBLE WITH JESSICA, with a stellar cast that includes Shirley Henderson, Rufus Sewell, Olivia Williams, Indira Varma, and Alan Tudyk, will be screening in UK and Irish cinemas starting from 5th April 2024
