MOTHER MIDNIGHT (also known as Seokkarae) follows the journey of Jiwon, a young woman in her twenties, as she struggles to cope with the loss of her strong-willed mother, her father's addiction to alcohol, and her tumultuous romance with a demanding boyfriend. In addition to these challenges, Jiwon finds herself in a difficult situation when a violent construction worker demands significant compensation for a dispute that he had with her mother. Feeling overwhelmed and out of options, Jiwon seeks the assistance of a local shaman who helps her realize that she must make some difficult decisions if she hopes to save her family, her home, and ultimately, herself.
