Eclectic, fun and informative, this one-off short documentary offers a lot more than meets the eye. Here is where we can find the future speak on medical methods for diagnosis, face cloning and, yes that future tech staple, the flying car, show cased in a lively colourful way. The difference being that all of these inventions and tech developments are now here, and shortly hitting the market place.
Sure, for the pleasure of a mini-plane with sleek wings that fold up neatly into a car in 3 minutes, there’s the hefty price tag of around £2.5 million… Gasp! However, TECH TO THE FUTURE isn’t just about the high-end inventions which fascinate us all, but an inspirational look at what technology could be used for, which benefits, improves and entertains humanity. A wonderful message in these times of stress, and one which has garnered its makers, Francis Hellyer and Sandro Monetti a stab at this year’s Oscars for their lively fun mini doc’.
TECH TO THE FUTURE is also a pilot for a new TV/Streamer series, and resonates with that well-loved program of yester-year – ‘Tomorrow’s World.’ However, a new show like this might be very well received right now. Never has the world been more in need for new and seriously good inventions to help alleviate the climate crisis, farming crisis and to provide inexpensive, green alternatives to just about every man-made nightmare invention of the 20thcentury. And the flying car? Well, you can’t blame them for that – It's a bright achievable rich man’s dream and a gimmick, but one that they added intentionally to attract the production funds to back the series. It’s also worth remembering that new inventions are always expensive to start, but the prices soon tumble. We are at the start of a new age, and TECH TO THE FUTURE and all it stands for, seems like a very good idea. Meanwhile good luck at the Oscars to its producers and makers, and meanwhile, tune in and enjoy.
