The films on show will be indie features and shorts from around the globe, including features ranging from Chinese post-apocalyptic sci-fi LAST SUNRISE. Brasilian sci-fi/ western/dystopian BACURAU (winner of the Jury Prize at Cannes 20191 to documentary SPACESHIP EARTH.

Blackhorse Responders are an award-winning youth club for 16-25 year olds who live or study in Waltham Forest.
Their 2022 cohort have created ideas for their own social movement. which they II share with us in the form of an exhibition and workshop.
8.00pm SPACESHIP EARTH (2020. USA) dir. Matt Wolf
In 1991 eight researchers locked themselves inside a glass dome built in the Arizona desert. where the ecosystem of the Earth had been recreated. Pushed by worries about climate change and sustainability. their aim was to understand if it was possible to recreate life on another planet.
The documentary documents the history of the group that led to this peculiar attempt and their two year long experiment inside Biosphere 2. It has a 'utopia went wrong' feel that we thought would be very interesting for the programme and taps into the idea of re-creating life in space. which has been the subject of scHi films such as Silent Running (USA 1972).
The film premiered at Sundance Film Festival. Rating' 12

Set in an undetermined future where water is scarce. a small community in North-east Brazil witnesses a number of strange events: their village suddenly disappears from maps. phone signals go down and a couple of strangers on motorcycles visit the isolated village.
