GHOSTED is directed by Daniel Pacquette, and stars Jade Asha, Kevin De Groot, Byron Swiegers, Chloe Adlerstein, Shaeran Thomas, Tara Hoyas Martinez, Alex Montagnani and Virginia Byron.
Synopsis: When struggling actress Mercy (Jade Asha) returns to the dating scene after a bad breakup, she's confident that meeting guys is easy. After getting turned down for a one-night stand with nice guy Michael (Byron Swiegers), she turns to dating apps to speed up the rebounding process. Mercy's girlfriends push her into meeting American architect Blake (Kevin de Groot), who she falls head over heels with on their first date. Fearing that she may never see him again, Mercy decides to take fate into her own hands and does everything that she can to keep him in the picture.
Putting her turbulent acting career on the back-burner, she prioritises Blake over the issues of her own life, including her estranged addict mother and some important career opportunities. Ignoring the advice of her friends and sister. If she doesn't pull her act together, Mercy stands to lose more than just the man of her dreams.
Lead and writer Jade Asha comments:
Every time that I went through yet another breakup, I would turn to a romcom to reassure myself that I wasn’t the only one going through this torment. I wanted to know that everything was going to be ok. After watching BRIDGET JONES’S DIARY and MY BEST FRIENDS WEDDING for the thousandth time, I decided to turn my experiences into a film and hope that I could help someone else going through a breakup out there. I also wanted to create characters that were relatable. Who were British, diverse, had money struggles, like the people in my world.
This is what we have done with GHOSTED. Throwing in a friendship group who have the same brutality of conversation as the women in SEX IN THE CITY. To give the film some depth, our lead character is trying to rebuild her relationship with her addict mother, whilst walking away from her addict ex- interesting comedy can come from pain. We also look at fertility issues, when her sister struggles to conceive again, another big worry for our target audience. Of course, we give her a happy ending too. GHOSTED is a feel-good film with passion, comedy, depth and drama. It will set a new tone for British Romcoms that come after.
