CASTING KILL, is the fifth feature film from “micro-budget maestros”, Raya Films.
As well as currently fundraising for the production via an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, the team have recently released their latest poster by designer, Sean Strong. The artwork evokes a Hitchcockian vibe, with a bold primary colour and noir-inspired silhouettes, echoing previous works from director James Smith, whose filmmaking style has been compared to the Master of Horror himself.
Where Hitchcock is famous for his control, infatuation and exploitation of actresses hand-picked for his movies, similarly, CASTING KILL taps into actor exploitation, albeit with a far more heightened and horrific scenario. The story centres around the world of Hollywood, acting and auditioning, with an identity fraudster posing as a casting director for a major Hollywood production, who preys on actors desperate to win their big break.
Directed by James Smith, and written/produced by Caroline Spence, CASTING KILL is scheduled for production early 2021.
ABOUT CASTING KILL: CASTING KILL is a ‘smart’ horror movie with multi-layered characters and plot line that is equally thought-provoking and terrifying.
As Head of Casting for a major Hollywood studio, Arthur Capstone is conducting a nationwide search for new talent. Little do many of those auditioning realise, however, that they are about to become victims of fraud. They will lose their identities, their money, their dignity… a few chosen ones will pay an ultimate, horrific price for pursuing their dreams…
CASTING KILL is a bone-chilling look at how ambition can be exploited by predators. Actors are a vulnerable group of people who have been exploited since the dawn of the moving picture. This film raises awareness of such danger and is a lesson to never, ever drop your guard.
CYBERLANTE is Raya Films' latest feature.
