LOOTED will open in UK Cinemas on Friday 6th November 2020.
Synopsis: Hartlepool – a town that has long since seen the back of economic prosperity. ROB (21), a young car jacker, is part of a close-knit gang with best friends, LEO (22), JP (21) and Leo’s new girlfriend, KASIA (20). Rob’s got skills - he’s a great driver and a good laugh. They steal a family motor and take it to AMIR (30s) a local hood, to be stripped and sold on. Amir has a bigger, more lucrative job that he offers Leo, the self-proclaimed leader of the gang. Of course he will bring Rob along as the getaway driver.
But Rob has another, secret life, caring for his dying father OSWALD (52) who lies in a hospital bed in the living room, his failing lungs supported by an oxygen tank. Oswald is distant, angry that his son still doesn’t have a proper job. He is under the illusion that Rob is out job hunting; he’s not aware Rob is stealing cars to make ends meet. Rob knows that the compensation claim with Oswald’s former employer has been repeatedly denied. Keeping his father in the dark, Rob is starting to feel the pressure of all the lies.
Leo and Kasia come around to Rob’s to bring money from Amir, and suddenly the two worlds that Rob has fought so hard to keep apart, collide. Kasia seeing for the first time the strain that Rob is really under, offers to help out with Oswald. She begins to form an unexpected friendship with both father and son, which she hides from Leo. Leo tries to convince Rob to do Amir’s job; it’ll be a big payday and Rob really needs the money. Rob refuses, unwilling to admit he has to be home for his Dad. But when Oswald humiliates Rob in front of Kasia, Rob changes his mind and he’s in. The job is disastrous – Amir is a dangerous liar - and Rob is devastated to learn that Leo isn’t the friend he thought he was. If Oswald finds out, Rob knows it will threaten to destroy their already fragile relationship. Rob has to decide if he’s prepared to let the one person who has shown him kindness – Kasia – into his life to help face this unholy mess.
