The Tin Cowboys are tapping into the latest vogue for drive-in cinemas in order to Premiere their stylised 80’s inspired action-noir flick CLAY’S REDEMPTION.
Carlos Boellinger (director) and Ivo Alexander (producer) are tapping into the latest vogue for drive-in cinemas in order to Premiere their stylised 80’s inspired action-noir flick CLAY’S REDEMPTION. “Drive-in movies and outdoor pop-up cinemas are the coming thing in a post-pandemic world” ventures Ivo Alexander. “Apart from being a safe way to enjoy films on the big screen, personally I’ve never been to a drive-in before, I’ve just seen it in movies. So I very much look forward to when they take over!”
Carlos Boellinger explains “Our film comes from this tradition, the B-picture without the mass-produced studio polish, with nothing to prove and nothing to hold it back. For me those were often the best. We grew up watching those, so having our film showing at a drive-in feels natural. CLAY’S REDEMPTION is one of the first British Indies to premiere at drive-in cinemas. It’s showing at London’s The Drive In (reasonably priced at £30-35 per car) where audiences tune their car radio to an FM frequency to listen to the film, and order from a surprisingly sophisticated menu of drinks and snacks delivered straight to their car.
CLAY’S REDEMPTION is Tin Cowboys debut feature.
Tin Cowboys (Ivo and Carlos) have been working together since 2015 and CLAY’S REDEMPTION, their debut feature, has already made a splash on the festival circuit picking up six nominations, among them Best Cinematography and Best Film (Madrid International Film Festival).
Clay’s diverse, London based cast hail from Japan (Japanese-American Akie Kotabe as ‘Clay’), Laos (French-Lao singer Nuuxs in her acting debut), Sweden (Magdalen Sverlander as ‘Learza’), Norway (Daniel Stisen as ‘Priest’), France (Elsa Nori as ‘OOna’), US (Patrick Carroll Jr as ‘Mercurio’); accompanied by British but equally diverse cast members Joe Wredden, Charlie Blackwood, Jonathan Fraser, Penelope Bosworth, Phillip Ray Tommy. Tin Cowboys are aided and abetted by Serenity Film’s Rona Walter as co-producer.
CLAY’S REDEMPTION is showing at The Drive In, London on 17th September 2020.
