FRED + MARV (Fred Newnes and Martin Portlock) is a new British comedy set to be completed mid 2021.
The exciting new comedy that has captured the traditional elements of previous great British shows such as Only Fools and Horses, Men Behaving Badly, Bottom, Absolutely fabulous and Father Ted, has seen a lot of positive public feedback and support. Crow Pictures have started filming the initial pilot episode and is due to be complete by the end of the year.
“We have worked very hard to bring back the classic comedy genre that seems to be missing in today’s world of television. We are excited to be creating Fred and Marv as a classic comedy duo. We can confirm that there will be an initial 50-80 min pilot episode leading to a series of 30min episodes.” Crow Pictures
Actors have been cast from across the UK, some are new faces and others are from shows such as Game of Thrones and Emmerdale.
Fred and Marv struggle with life. They are thrown into a hurricane of fortune and punishment. With their new found friendship, they will come together to face the evil Mrs Hefler in a ridiculous battle for freedom.
Writer and director Martin Portlock said:
“I want easy Saturday night television that makes me laugh while I eat my tea. Sadly, that no longer exists. If I miss an episode of something these days, I have to play catchup before I know where I am in the story. That’s the beauty of FRED + MARV, each episode is its own story. If I miss an episode it doesn’t matter. This is why I decided to create this comedy. Like previous hits such as Men Behaving Badly, Bottom and so on... each episode was its own entity. That’s the goal for FRED + MARV”.
Crow Pictures will be releasing more information on completion of the initial episode along with the pilot trailer. The episode will be pitched to the BBC and Netflix in 2021 along with other production companies across the UK.
