CHARLOTTE: THE MOVIE is a new British feature film written by Martin Hardwick & Georgia Conlan.
With nowhere else to go, a young girl is taken in by an elderly man with sinister, immoral intentions....
The story centralises around a young girl, Charlotte, and an older man Roy. After leaving home, Charlotte finds herself seeking help and a place to stay. With no access to a phone, her only option is to keep moving forward and find someone willing to take her in. Then she meets Roy. After allowing her to stay the night, we see what’s really in store for her after she made the decision to stay the night.
As the story progresses, we discover more about Charlotte and Roy which leads the audience to question; Has she ran away from home? Is there more to Charlotte's truth? Is Roy's kindness what it seems?
Martin Hardwick started to develop the film last year when he came up with the initial storyline idea...
This project has in development since September 2019. Originally, Martin was the creator and Georgia was on board only as an actor. After filming for a couple of days in November 2019, they realised that the project had more potential and wanted to re film with a budget. As they continued to discuss the project, Martin asked Georgia to re write the script with him and be involved as a co-creator.
Martin is also the Director Of Photography and lead editor of the project. He is very excited to bring Charlotte's story to life on set and tell her story in the most effective way during post production.
British Actress Georgia Conlan plays leading lady ‘Charlotte’ in this new psychological thriller...
As well as co-writing and co-directing the movie, Georgia will also be playing lead role 'Charlotte'. Georgia quoted “I am so excited to be portraying the role of Charlotte in this movie. She is such a complex character and I can’t wait to bring her story to life”.
Conlan’s most recent credits include: 4'Oclock Club (BBC), Doctors (BBC), Jenny - McDonald’s Festive (UK & Ireland). Earlier this year she was cast as a leading role in retro horror 'Bats: The Awakening'. Her Theatre credits include 'Winnie' in 'Annie Get Your Gun' (The Union Theatre) at The Union Theatre, 'Young Susan' in 'Closets The Musical' (The Hope Mill Theatre) and 'Esther' in 'PROM!' (Oldham Coliseum).
The pair have been very busy during lockdown creating shorts to prepare them for shooting their feature...
During lockdown Martin and Georgia have filmed several shorts including ‘Locked IN’, ‘Sleep Tight’ and ‘LAUTIR’. Locked IN was the first short to be made and has recently been awarded semi finalist at ‘The Horror Movie Awards’ and ‘Best Actor’ at ‘The Lockdown Film Festival’. Martin quoted “We are thrilled with the feedback we have received from our short films and to have been recognised at these festivals. We wanted to keep creative during lockdown and keep us working before we film Charlotte”.
Additional cast include..
Ian Laing, Cerys Knighton, Jennifer Preston, Kate Somerton, Keith French, Alexander King, Jacob Stevens, Charlotte Monkhouse, Bryan Reynolds, Alexander Harriss & Angel May-Webb.
