Gangs, drugs, guns and the hard hitting reality of the destruction they cause are portrayed in Rayana Campbell’s urban social drama LAPSE OF HONOUR. There’s no room for glamorising, this is a tragic story showing the extremes that gang culture, broken homes and lack of opportunity can have on British kids trying to make a way for themselves in modern Britain.
Set in a tough part of Manchester where gangs rule, love birds Tom and Eve are studying hard to get to University to enable them to escape their abusive families, the guys that rule the streets and to better their lives. But when Eve falls pregnant their plans are in ruins and unable to get a job, Tom has no choice but to start dealing for the ruthless gangster Razor (Gary McDonald), a decision that can only have one outcome.
MOBO nominee Rapper Lady Leshurr beautifully portrays Eve, while Tom, Eve’s doting boyfriend is solidly played by Tom Collins. Accompanied by a fine cast including an all too brief but stand out performance from Orline V. Riley as Eve’s abusive mother, LAPSE OF HONOUR is a promising directional debut from Rayna Campbell.
LAPSE OF HONOUR has been selected for numerous festivals including Film London's London Screenings in The Breakthrough section, Avvantura Film Festival in Croatia, The British Urban Film Festival, Dinard Film Festival and British Film Week at Le Grand Logis in Bruz, where it was is in competition alongside film greats such as 45 Years, Dough, Kill your Friends and Legend.
