Initially Tommy matched his father’s golfing ability, but it wasn’t long before Tommy was outshining both his father’s game and the respect he had as the founder of the Open Championship in 1860.
Behind the notoriety however was a self-determined young man and Tommy rebelled against the aristocracy that gave him his chance and his parents who shunned his passionate marriage.
